We understand that senior drivers value the freedom of movement they’ve enjoyed for many years. Being independent and able to visit loved ones, attend appointments, and drive for pleasure is essential to the well-being of our respected elders. However, as we age, cognitive skills and overall health may decline, which can impact driving ability. That’s why we have spent over 14 years working with seniors, helping them refine their driving skills, stay informed about new regulations, navigate larger and more complex intersections, and improve visual awareness to avoid collisions or traffic tickets.
Most of the seniors we train seek our services for the following reasons:

We offer patient, respectful driver training tailored to the unique needs of each senior. We also welcome loved ones to sit in during lessons to observe our training standards and see the learning outcomes firsthand. To ensure ongoing safety, we recommend that seniors continue driver training at regular intervals. Rest assured, Dean will never suggest additional hours unless they are truly necessary.
At Dean’s Defensive Driving Training Centre we take Beginner Driver Education (BDE) very seriously. Our focus is on precision driving skills, knowledge, and behavior. On any given day we can expect 3-5 fatalities in the GTA due to a motor vehicle collision. The numbers are staggering when you consider the cost and impact of mild, moderate and serious injuries sustained to drivers, passengers and pedestrians. The rising cost of automobile liability insurance in most metropolitan areas, is resulting in motorists to pay out of their own pocket for collision damage to their vehicles. Inappropriate risk taking, reckless behaviour, impairments, lack of professional driver training, and distractions is a growing concern for all Ontario road users. I’m sure we all know someone who was injured or killed due to a driver’s negligence on the road. Experience has shown 98% of all motor vehicle collisions are avoidable even if the other driver was at-fault for a dangerous maneuver on the road.
